Short version: affiliate commission on parts, and - when there is an audience worth sponsoring - labelled sponsorship. That is it. No paid reviews, no paid rankings, nothing that changes a number.
When you buy a part through a link here, the retailer may pay us a percentage. It costs you nothing extra; the price is the same as it would have been if you had typed the URL in yourself.

Every page carrying an affiliate link says so on that page, above the links rather than in small grey type at the bottom. Pages with no affiliate links carry no notice, because a disclosure on a page with nothing to disclose just teaches people to skip past them.
You will notice Amazon links have no price next to them. That is deliberate and it is worth explaining, because it is the clearest thing we can point at to show these rules are real.
Amazon retired the product API that used to let sites like this pull live prices lawfully, and we have not integrated a replacement. So we have no legitimate source for an Amazon price. Plenty of sites solve this by typing prices in by hand and letting them go stale - that also happens to violate the Associates agreement and is a good way to lose the account.
We solved it by making it impossible. The admin refuses to enable Amazon price display unless a lawful source is actually configured. Not a checkbox someone can tick on a bad day - the software says no.
There is no sponsorship on the site right now. When there is, it will be labelled as such everywhere it appears, and it will not touch a benchmark, a ranking, or a recommendation. The full list of what a sponsor cannot buy is in the editorial policy, and it is short and specific enough to hold us to.
If a manufacturer sends hardware for testing, the page it appears on says they sent it. They get no copy approval and no look before publication. Same link: editorial policy.
If you ever catch that not being true, tell us - and tell everyone else too. A site like this only works while that is checkable.
